ART X TALKS 2020



ART X Talks explores a range of themes pertinent to the state and evolution of contemporary art in Africa. With key stakeholders in contemporary art, and an emphasis on those with a compelling interest in the African continent or its Diaspora, the Talks reiterate the theme of this year's fair by contemplating the past to imagine new possibilities for the future. The Talks will convene on Saturday November 7th and Sunday November 8th.








Talk One:
They will ask you, “Who is your mother?”




Featuring collectors under the age of 50, this conversation will explore the word ‘black’, and many of the inherent connotations, with respect to the visual art sector -- its artists, its patrons, and the nature of visual art itself.  The discussion will also highlight artists whom these collectors find to be most exciting today, the reasons why they began to and continue to collect art, and secrets of their collecting and/or research tactics during the pandemic.  In addition, the conversation will include their personal experiences within the visual art sector and thoughts for people who wish to begin collecting.

The Black in Art.
