BARA SKETCHBOOK

LAGOS, NIGERIA
PRESENTED BY LOUISIMONE GUIRANDOU GALLERY

Bara’s work revolves around his interest in identity in relation to colour, guided by the impressionist’s desire to render what one feels about something and the neo-expressionist’s preference for subjectivity. Bara believes that colour would be of little relevance but for the thorn of identity, hence his portrayal of subjects in luminous tones, in service of their placement beyond social structures. His recent works delve further into the subject of race in relation to birth and death. Sketchbook (Toluwanimi Adediran Williams; Nigeria, 1993) graduated in Fine Arts from Tai Solarin University, Ogun State. His recent exhibitions include The locality and the status quo, Pacers Art, Lagos (2020). He lives in Kaduna, Nigeria.
