ART X LAGOS 2023


The Dialogue was the thematic departure point for our eighth edition of ART X Lagos. It explored ideas and prompts to elicit reflection, conversation, discussion and negotiation to help us shift knowledge – moving towards seeing beyond the dilemmas we experience, to ways that encourage us to imagine the here and now differently. 




ART X LAGOS 2022


Our most ambitious fair to date, the seventh edition featured over 30 leading international galleries showcasing 120 exceptional artists from Africa and its Diaspora. We gathered at The Federal Palace for a weekend of contemplation and celebration.

ART X LAGOS 2021


Our sixth edition brought together 30 leading international galleries from around the world to showcase 120 artists from over 30 countries in a physical/digital hybrid fair. Of the 30 exhibitors, 15 joined ART X Lagos for the first time - marking a period of growth despite the challenges wrought by COVID-19.

ART X LAGOS 2020


For its 2020 pandemic edition, ART X Lagos invited audiences to virtually interact with 200 works from leading galleries across Africa and the Diaspora, and partake in 13 events.

ART X LAGOS 2019


The ambitious 4th edition of ART X Lagos delivered #MoreThanAnArtFair, welcoming over 90 artists from 25 countries. It saw the introduction of ART X Modern dedicated to pioneers of African modern art from the mid-20th century, as well as a Performance Pavilion.

ART X LAGOS 2018


The 3rd edition showcased artists and exhibitors from 18 countries, and notably, a special exhibition by Yinka Shonibare CBE. Ben Enwonwu’s masterpiece ‘Tutu’ (1974), the highest selling work of Nigerian modern art at auction, was also exhibited, its first public showcase in Lagos in over 40 years.

ART X LAGOS 2017


The 2nd edition welcomed over 9,000 visitors with artists including Yinka Shonibare CBE, Zanele Muholi, Modupeola Fadugba, Nandipha Mntambo, Virginia Chihota, Boris Nzebo, Pamela Phatsimo Sunstrum, Portia Zvavahera and Lakin Ogunbanwo.

The fair also included special project exhibitions curated by Missla Libsekal, notably an exhibition of seven life-sized wooden sculptures by Nigeria’s pioneer modernist Ben Enwonwu.



ART X LAGOS 2016


ART X Lagos, West Africa's Premier International Art Fair debuted in 2016  and was aimed to deepen Nigeria’s connection to the contemporary art scene in Africa and the rest of the world.

ART X Lagos was created to highlight the visual arts and contribute to the increased visibility of African artists, creating a strong, vibrant art market and positioning Lagos as a cultural capital on the continent.
