Namibia/South Africa

Stephané Conradie (b. 1990, Namibia) is an artist and lecturer in printmedia at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town. Although primarily a trained printmaker, she is known for her bricolage assemblages, which focus on object ontologies. Her research and practice stem from a fascination with how people, particularly members of her own family in Namibia and South Africa, arrange sentimental objects at home. Her ornate sculptures and prints examine the histories of colonialism and creolisation embedded in domestic material culture. Conradie holds a PhD in Visual Arts from the University of Stellenbosch.
