Duke Asidere is one of Nigeria’s most celebrated contemporary artists with a keen following internationally and in his native Nigeria. He expresses himself boldly through a wide variety of mediums including pencil work, oil, acrylic, pastels and transparencies. Inspired by the everyday drama of human lives surrounding him, Asidere uses thick and bold brush strokes engaging contemporary African politics. Through visual metaphors, he comments on the everyday socio-political events within his home country, Nigeria.
