Oyerinde Olotu (b. 1959) is a contemporary impressionist with a bias for the palette knife. He is a great admirer of Prof Yusuf Grillo, Kolade Oshinowo, Rembrandt and Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and a huge soccer fan. His paintings are a visual hymn to the people, cities and landscapes of Nigeria, all of which he imbues with palpable character. Olotu graduated from the Yaba College of Technology, an institution renowned for its impressive creative alumni, and has been a studio artist since 1990, following a career in advertising that took him from illustrator at Grafik Advertising Ltd to creative director at St Georges Publicity Ltd. He exhibits at home and abroad.
